The Origin of Neuroguard
Neuroguard was born out of real-world experience and frustration on the front line of emergency care. As a paramedic, I often found myself in critical situations where I knew exactly what should be done to protect a patient with a suspected traumatic brain injury, but lacked the tools to do it safely. There was no reliable alternative to elevate a patient’s head while maintaining spinal immobilisation, and it never sat right with me that best practices were either neglected, improvised with unsafe methods, or simply not possible in the pre-hospital environment. Driven by this gap in care, I set out to design a simple, effective solution that empowers clinicians to deliver safer, evidence-based treatment from the very first moments of trauma care. That solution is Neuroguard.

Neuroguard™ is an innovative, Patented, non-invasive medical device designed to support the early management of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in pre-hospital and emergency settings. Its unique inflatable design enables safe and controlled elevation of a patient’s head by 30 degrees, helping to reduce the risk of secondary brain injury while maintaining spinal immobilization.  It supports two configurations to give the most optimum support whatever the patient presentation. With functionality in mind it is lightweight, reusable, and easy to deploy, Neuroguard is intended for use by paramedics, air ambulance crews, and emergency departments as part of best practice TBI care. Currently in development and undergoing evaluation with leading UK emergency services, Neuroguard represents a simple yet effective advancement in trauma management.
